the 16in. (40.7cm.) diameter plate secured on a vulcanite axis with lacquered-brass and rosewood winding handle, with one mahogany support, ebonised and glass insulator with adjustable friction pads, the "doughnut ring" collectors with crocodile teeth inserts, brass conductor rod connected to the spherical cap of the main glass insulating pillar, with brass extension to the outer brass spherical conductor, the machine mounted on the classic Winter's pattern shaped mahogany base -- 20in. (52cm.) wide; with a fine leyden jar, the outer surface with zinc foil, with brass chain, conductor rod and ball and fruitwood cap (C)
