A needlework picture with raised work details embroidered in coloured silks and purl, with a central appliqu medallion worked in tent stitch with a man fishing, a shepherd and shepherdess to one side with a flock of sheep, buildings in a hillocky landscape in the distance, the ivory satin surround worked with four roundels representing the Four Parts of the World, a lion and leopard to either side, a pool with a fish below and a building above--19 x 15in. (48 x 38cm.), third quarter of 17th century, English, framed and glazed, some wear and restorations
