A shaped coverlet of ivory satin with valences, embroidered in brightly coloured floss silks and chenille, the central field with a youth holding a lyre, possibly a muse, a halo radiating from him, within a garland of stylised fruit, the corners with flaming torches, the borders with acanthus leaves, acorns, flowers and rocaille shellwork, the centre of each valence appliqu with a putto, two dogs and a leopard, applied with silk braid and trimmed with an ivory, blue, pink and green silk fringe, the valences scalloped--94 x 112in.
