The field depicting the court of Soloman and Balqis flanked by delicate flowering trees and rocky floral mounds, an inscription pediment above with flowering branches, in a burgundy border with perching birds and flowering branches linking cartouches of alternating heads of Soloman and Balqis between ivory floral fine stripes, outer plain burgundy stripe, excellent condition

Lot Essay

The inscription in the pediment reads: "tasvir majlis husrat Sulayman wa Balqis" (a picture of the court of the esteemed Sulayman and Balqis). Balqis is the Persian name for the Queen of Sheba.
