An Empire ormolu striking mantel clock, early 19th century
The case modelled as a platform and the dial set within a drapery swag, surmounted by the figure of a maiden seated on a Grecian stool and puring oil onto a brazier, flanked by a spaniel and by a jug and goblet, the platform supported by four foliate mounted legs to a rectangular base with spiral-twist gallery and on bun feet, the white enamel Roman dial signed a paris, with pierced gilt-metal hands, the twin barrel movement with silk suspension and countwheel strike on bell, with pendulum; resting on a later yellow marble and porphyry plinth under a glass case
The clock -- 17in. (43cm.) high; 19in. (49.5cm.) high overall
