With handwritten note inscribed "Grandmother died in 1901 aged 81 probably sewed picture in 1838 in her father's farm "The Chair" Newton Mearns Renfrewshire. Her name was Janet Herbertson. She married Andrew Jackson of "The Spittel Cambrolang. When left a widow lived in Old Place High Blantyre...."
