The cap has an attached note inscribed "Day cap belonging to N. Hay, great-grandmother of A E. Dewas. Her grave is in the S. W. corner of St Mary's-Barnsley[?] Churchyard. She was the grandmother of my father Michael Thomas Sa[r?]ler, A. E. Dewas".
