Realistically cast with a tiger mauling a falling deer, the muscular tiger wrestling the deer to the ground, its left paw clutching the deer's short antler whilst biting deeply into the deer's neck, all modeled in a majestic twisting motion, the tiger inlaid with gold sheet markings, the deer inlaid with silver fur markings, the eyes inset with amber glass

Lot Essay

The face of the tiger is somewhat reminiscent of the well-known pair of bronze leopards found at Mancheng in Hebei Province in the tomb of Liu Sheng.
