A DIMINUTIVE EARLY ALL METAL BALL BUTT PISTOL
Possibly Scottish, about 1700
Engraved half octagonal half round cannon barrel. Brass stock with engraving of a serpent in the Celtic manner. The brass lock plate, engraved with meandering floral scrolls and marked A beneath pan. Engraved cock. Trigger of a facted baluster shape, large ball butt engraved with leaf pattern containing a touch hole pick pierced with four holes. Belt hook with champhered edge and scroll flourish finial. 5 inch barrel.
