CONFEDERATE ARMY, First Alabama Regiment. Manuscript muster roll, endorsed by Capt D.R. Durly, Montgomery, Alabama. 4 pages, large folio, endorsed on verso in pencil. A neatly ruled official document, with detailed listing of soldiers by rank and company, with notations of wounds or disease from which they suffered, date of discharge or death. Approximately one hundred names, with ailments of "Intermittent Fever, Rheumatism, Measels, Neuralgia, and Syphilis." Pencil endorsement describing the death of "David Miller killed with a shell in the Brestworks...they cept up a well directed fire all the time and so well was there aim of there guns that they cut our canoneers from our guns...we must confess that we are not able to stand these superior forces."
