MCCLELLAN, GEORGE B., General. Four autograph letters signed ("Geo B McClellan") to various correspondents, Washington, Orange, Hoboken, 1862-1868. Together 8 pages, 8vo, some minor defects, mostly fine. The first a wry letter to Captain John Dahlgren regarding his cook's brother-in-law, "formerly employed at the Navy Yard but recently discharged. He has three wives & an infinity of small children, none over six months old." The second to L. Braels thanking him for taking "up the pen in defence of a man whose public career is ended." A delayed reply to Prescott Smith: "I should be delighted to see you...I expect to be here all the time until the election is over." The last letter refers to his mother who is "seriously ill & therefore [I] go to Philadelphia this morning." (4)
