MUHAMMAD ALI VS. ZORA FOLLEY FIGHT-WORN GLOVES
An important pair of brown Everlast gloves worn by Ali in the March 22, 1967 fight in which he defended his Heavyweight Title for the ninth time by knocking out Zora Folley in the seventh round at Madison Square Garden. Both gloves are marked Made in the U.S.A. and are numbered 21086 (indicating they were professional gloves made by Everlast). The laces on the gloves have been cut and tied. The inside of both gloves is stamped, Approved - New York Athletic Commission, and is dated and initialed in blue ink March 15, 1967. Inside, near the top of the gloves, the inscription M. Ali in black, and further down KO4. These markings were probably made by Ali's trainer, Angelo Dundee, who had a habit of putting his predictions on or in Ali's fight gloves. Ali was legendary for his hand speed which was at its peak when these gloves were worn. The gloves exhibit wear and usage. Together with a wirephoto of Ali wearing the gloves during the fight. This fight was significant because it was Ali's last fight before being forced into exile and prohibited from fighting for the next three and a half years. Letter of authenticity
