A SIOUX BEADED AND QUILLED HIDE TOBACCO BAG
Of slightly tapering form, sinew sewn, central panel decorated in blue, green, yellow and translucent red with white heart beads against a white lazy stitched ground creating a column of linked "morning star" motifs, sides accented with square designs, narrow band along sides and composed of cross motifs in similar colors, band encircling rim in green, blue, white and yellow beads, elongated triangular tabs on both sides attached at the rim decorated with "feather" designs in similar colors to the rim and accented with tin cone suspensions and red dyed horse hair inserts, a pocket at rim outlined in blue, green and white beads and accented with fringe, top panel decorated with zig zag pattern in similar color beads and accented with tin cone suspensions with red dyed horse hair inserts, slats below wrapped in natural dyed orange, green, and purple quillwork against a red ground, with hide fringe at the bottom, painted with yellow pigment
