A CORE-FORMED GLASS ARYBALLOS
eastern mediterranean, possibly from rhodes
circa late 6th-5th century b.c.
Cobalt blue in color, the spherical body with cylindrical neck and inward-sloping rim-disk, with opaque yellow and turquoise threads wound spirally on the body, marvered and tooled into a zig-zag pattern on the middle of the body, with a turquoise thread applied to the edge of the rim, and twin turquoise vertical ring handles with knobed tails
