16TH CENTURY, POSSIBLY SOUTH ITALIAN (KINGDOM OF NAPLES)

Painted in shades of blue, green, yellow and ochre, the front with the portrait of a woman to left enclosed within a wreath, her hair swept up in a net, a cross hanging from a beaded chain around her neck, the back with foliate arabesques, the sloping shoulder and foot with a band of cross hatching within blue lines, the underside with the Damiron label inscribed in red No 36--10 3/8in. (26.5cm.) high
