A ROMAN MOSAIC GLASS SPHERE
circa 1st century b.c.-1st century a.d.
Formed from a fused mass of polychrome mosaic sections, now sliced in two, visible within the slice are part of a half palmette and scrolling tendril; a checkerboard pattern; part of a lily-and-palmette design; a several areas with inscriptions; together with a small mosaic glass bead with an inscription NEIKA HEICIC or Victorious Isis in yellow on a dark ground, framed in opaque white, similar in composition to the inscriptions within the mosaic sphere
