A ROMAN GLASS CAMEO IN A GILT BRONZE SETTING

The cameo cast in white on a dark ground, depicting an amorous couple, perhaps a satyr and a maenad, reclining on a bed of acanthus, the satyr with his head turned toward a figure of Eros playing the double-pipes, his right arm upraised, his left arm resting on her back, the maenad laying across her lover's lap and playing castanets for a dancing satyr to the left, the woman wearing a breast band, her legs wrapped in a mantle, leaving the back of her torso exposed, an Eros with outstretched wings flying above to the left, the oval box-shaped bronze mount with horizontal loops at each end
