A ROMAN GLASS PYXIS
syro-palestinian, circa 1st century a.d.
Mold-blown of opaque-white glass, the convex base with pointed leaves, the octagonal body with rectangular panels, two with a spoked wheel below a triangular pediment, with a palmette below an arch to the right and a stylized plant below an arch to the left, the pedimented panels divided by panels with a circle within a diamond, the domed lid with concentric rings encircled by eight inverted palmettes
