Titles printed in red and black, with identical woodcut of hunters and falconers, 57 text woodcuts in La Venerie of which 4 full-page, showing hunting scenes, tools, deer scat. etc., printed woodcut music, 31 woodcuts of hunting birds (a few repeated) in La Fauconnerie, woodcut head-pieces, historiated and floriated woodcut initials in various sizes. (Two small wormholes through Hh1-3 and small marginal hole to E3 in La Venerie, occasional light foxing or discoloration.) 17th-century brown morocco over pasteboard, morocco doublures, sides and doublures with wide gilt roll-tooled border, spine densely gilt in six compartments, gilt edges (covers slightly bowed); modern slipcase. Provenance: 2 small wax stamps covered in paper (front flyleaf); 19th-century purchase note "18# No 180 ctarr" and "292" on front and rear flyleaves; "No. 4265 M. Money" in pencil at front.

Second Angelier edition, reprinting the l'Angelier and Mangnier edition of 1585 and using the same woodblocks, which reappeared in several 17th-century Paris and Rouen edition. The text includes Jean de Clamorgan's La Chasse du loup, extracts from La Maison rustique of Charles Estienne and Jean Libault, a chapter on canine medicine excerpted from Carcano, Tre libri degli uccelli da rapina, and the falconry texts of Guillaume Tardif, Artelouche d'Alagona, and G.
