Additional engraved title from the 1718 edition by Benot Audran after Coypel, typographic title printed in red and black, unsigned engraved title ornament and 4 headpiece vignettes, 28 engraved plates (13 double-page) by Audran after the Regent, Philippe, duc d'Orlans (from the 1718 edition, replacing the 8 plates by Scotin), with the "petits pieds" plate by the Comte de Caylus. Ruled in red throughout. (Some light foxing or browning, short marginal fold break to one plate.) Contemporary olive morocco gilt, covers with border composed of small floral, fleur-de-lis, dot and arabesque tools, spine in six compartments, red morocco lettering-piece in the second, the remainder decorated with leafy sprays, dots and small flame and pierced heart tools, board edges gilt ruled, turn-ins gilt, gilt edges, Dutch-gilt paper endleaves (head of spine chipped, joints and extremities rubbed, spine a trifle faded). Provenance: ?Joseph Bonnier de La Mosson (d. 1744), Trsorier gnral des tats du Languedoc, avid bibliophile (engraved bookplate dated 1785, motto "Dominus incrementum dat", attributed to Bonnier de La Mosson by a later owner).

In this copy the sheets of the 1731 edition were bound with the plates of the so-called dition du Rgent of 1718. Cohen-de Ricci 651-652.
