7 volumes, 8o (261 x 162 mm). Half-titles, subscriber's lists, 500 hand-colored lithographed plates by W.E. Hitchcock, R. Trembly and others after Audubon, printed and colored by J.T. Bowen, wood-engraved figures in text (some minor foxing and faint marginal browning, pl. 166 bound upside down, pls. 81-85 and 187-188 misbound). Contemporary straight-grained red half morocco gilt, spines elaborately gilt, marbled boards (corners and joints a little rubbed, joints slightly worn, joint starting at head of spine of Vol. VII). Provenance: Dr. P. Tidyman (tiny label on title page).
