The present work is based on the original composition in the Uffizi Gallery, Florence, (Inv. no. A809). Sandrart executed several other self-portraits including those in the Historisches Museum, Frankfurt and a second signed and dated portrait in the collection of Fritz von Sandrart at Brema, near Florence
