Borel, physician to the King of France, was an active collector of rarities, plants, antiquities, and minerals, as well as manuscripts and books of the Hermetic philosophers or chemists. He had previously written on the telescope and its history, and was the first to apply microscopy to medicine. This work, dedicated to Sir Kenelm Digby, is devoted to various astronomical observations. It was translated into English in 1658. Ferguson, p. 116. RARE.
