Title-pages printed in red and black, 27 plates, several partially colored by a contemporary hand. (text block splitting, some marginal browning and minor foxing, lacking 1 plate (Part 2) and 2 titles (Parts 2 and 5). Contemporary quarter calf, boards, uncut (very worn, considerable losses to boards). Provenance: Fuller (pencil signature on front free endpaper); Joeckel (with two other illegible signatures on title; a few contemporary manuscript annotations). FIRST EDITION. It was Haller's aim to create a series of perfect anatomical illustrations, "a goal which this masterpiece clearly achieved in these 8 fascicules published from 1743-1756" (Choulant/Frank 290).
