Including Thesaurus anatomicus primus [-decimus], first printed 1701-1726, Ruysch's description of his anatomical preparations, which he exhibited in Amsterdam and which were considered a great curiosity. The engraved illustrations in this text "deserve special mention for their whimsical, almost surrealistic quality: quaintly posed skeletons surrounded by stuffed monsters, strange reptiles, dried plants and sea creatures" (Heirs of Hippocrates). This bound volume also includes three supplementary parts and two indices to the Thesaurus, and several shorter papers concerning controversies in which Ruysch was involved, but it does not constitute his complete works.
