(Occasional light marginal spotting.) Contemporary blue half calf, spine with raised bands in six compartments, tooled in gilt and blind, lettered in the second and fifth compartments (scuffing to extremities, corners bumped).
Atlas volume in its more desirable state with the views on india paper, issued to accompany two volumes of 4to text. The plates are divided into three categories, as follows: "Historique": 34 lithographic views and plates by Bichebois, Sabatier and others, all on india paper mounted (including 7 Australian and 6 Brazilian views), "Histoire Naturelle": 12 engraved plates, printed in colors and finished by hand after Bessa and Prtre (including a fine pair of plates of an Australian Parrot by Bessa), and "Hydrographie": 5 double-page engraved maps, 1 folding engraved plan of Sydney harbour, 2 double-page coastal profiles, hand-colored aquatint plate of various types of shipping, large folding world map with the routes of the voyages of both Bougainvilles.
