Thomassin, title-pages printed in red and black with repeated engraved vignette, 3 headpiece engraved vignettes and 78 numbered engravings (landscape views, archaeological scenes, buildings and narrative scenes), many of them large and folding. (Plate nos. 7 and 9 each with edges re-attached by the binder, no. 19 with numeral cropped away, some of the folding plates with very minor fold tears and with creasing from careless folding; some minor dampstaining to text.) Eighteenth-century fawn calf gilt, black morocco gilt spine labels (very slightly rubbed). FIRST EDITION of the three-volume edition.
