Additional engraved title by G. le Brun, engraved allegorical dedicatory plate, copiously illustrated with engravings of coats-of-arms and related subjects including heralds' costumes, insignia of various orders, suits of armor, banners, pavillons, etc., including many full-page engravings and one fold-out plate, fine historiated and armorial engraved head- and tailpiece vignettes and initials. Errata leaf at end. (Text leaf A1 defective, fraying to edges of first few leaves, a few small marginal tears, occasional browning.) Contemporary French reddish-brown morocco richly gilt, covers with wide border of leafy roll-tools framing a semis of large fleurs-de-lys, spine similarly gilt in compartments, red morocco lettering-piece in the second, marbled pastedown endpapers, gilt edges (joints renewed, extremities rubbed, small patch-repair to upper cover, a few small scrapes.) Proveannce: Paul de Beauvilliers, duc de St-Aignan (1648-1714), tutor to the duc de Bourgogne, the father of Louis XV, and of other dignitaries, engraved armorial bookplate by Mavelot; "achet 8000 chez Morgan juillet 1935" (inscription on back free endpaper).

Third(?) edition, reprinting the 1660 edition, of Palliot's greatly enlarged and richly illustrated version of Gliot's armorial dictionary, first published in 1635. Cf. Cioranescu 32724 and 51768 (1660 edition, under both names) and BM/STC French 17 279 (1661 edition, under Gliot).
