Lot Essay

Mode Wien (Viennese Fashion) consisted of twelve portfolios, each containing twelve prints, which were mostly hand-colored linoleum cuts, but also included woodcuts, etchings and lithographs. The artists, whose designs illustrated fashion trends, were Kunstgewerbeschule students or graduates. Although Mode Wien appears not to have been published by the Wiener Werksttte, most of the artists had worked for the Workshop at one time.
