Lot Essay

Charles-Adolphe Bonnegrace was born in Toulon in the south of France. He entered the Beaux-Arts Acedemy in 1831 and became a scholar of Antoine-Jean Gros. He exhibited at the Paris Salon and was awarded medals in 1839,1842 and 1867. Several of his works are exhibited at the Muse Granet in Aix-en-Provence and at the City Museum of Toulon.
