Only the portrait of Marie Anne of The Palatinate, Queen of Spain has been accurately identified, based on comparison with an unsigned miniature on ivory (7 x 5in.) in the House of Orange-Nassau Historic Collections Trust (Inv. no. m123). She also sat for Godfried Schalcken in 1690 on the occasion of Her Majesty's being detained in Dordrecht by severe frost. The accompanying Portrait of a Gentleman was sold alone in 1933 (see provenance above) so the two paintings were probably made into pendants sometime after the Christie's sale.
