Lot Essay

Born in Heilbronn, Fuger worked in Leipzig, Dresden and later Vienna, where he was supported by the Empress Maria Theresa, who sent him to study in Italy. In 1782 he completed a series of frescoes in the Royal Palace at Caserta, Naples, representing The Origins of Science. In 1783 he was nominated Vice-Director of the Vienna Academy
