A landmark of English poetry; the majority of the poems are by Wordsworth, but among Coleridge's contributions is the erliest version of "The Rime of the Ancient Mariner." Joseph Cottle, the original Bristol publisher of Lyrical Ballads, had five hundred copies printed, but almost immediately dispoesed of his stock to the London publisher Arch, who had a new title-page prepared. Some thirteen copies of the Bristol first issue are know. (2)
