1957 BENTLEY S2 STANDARD SALOON
Registration No. 9429 AD (UK)
Chassis No. B84FA
White with black roof and maroon leather interior
Engine: V8, overhead valve, 6,230cc, 200bhp at 5,000rpm; Gearbox: four speed automatic; Suspension: front, independent by coil springs and wishbones, rear, semi-elliptic; Brakes: four wheel drum. Right hand drive.
At the London Motor Show in 1959, Rolls-Royce/Bentley Motors introduced their first all-alloy V8 engine for the Bentley S2 and its equivalent, the Rolls-Royce Cloud II. The new engine had a displacement of 6230cc, or 380.2 cubic inches, and was an immediate success, particularly with the important North American market buyers. Top speed was almost an impressive 113mph and, although few owners were ever going to attain such a top speed, the engine was unstressed and easily able to handle the power requirements of the driver. Coachwork was either the factory fitted standard steel body or from one of the few remaining specialists.
This 1957 standard saloon example has been repainted during its life and is now brilliant-white with contrasting black roof . The panelwork is acceptable and the ancillary brightwork is in fair condition. The interior has correct style maroon leather trim and upholstery. The door cappings and dashboard woodwork is all in fair condition and the car has wind-up windows. The Bentley has right hand drive steering and was formerly registered 9429 AD when in the UK. We did not have an opportunity to drive the Bentley before going to press, so please contact a member of the Car Department for further information regarding its mechanical status.

Please note that this car was miscatalogued. It is an earlier series 1 car with the well proven six cylinder engine and not the series 2 with 8 cylinder engine as stated in the catalogue. Please also note the roof of this car is blue rather than black as stated in the catalogue.
