HAYON, Nehemiah Hiyya (c. 1655-c. 1730). Sefer Ta'atsumot on the Zohar and the Tikkunei Zohar. MANUSCRIPT ON PAPER
[Orient, 18th century]
4o (200 x 160 mm). 72 + [1] blank leaves, with old Hebrew foliation. Black ink. Oriental semi-cursive script. (Occasional staining, small repairs and minor defects, not affecting legibility.) Modern blind and gold-tooled dark red morocco, two modern paper flyleaves at back and front.
CONTENTS:
Hayon was a kabbalist with Shabbatean tendencies. The author refers to his book Oz le-Elohim many times (fols. 8r, 43r, 57v etc.). In Oz le-Elohim, ch. 28, the author mentions Sefer Ta'atsumot. This manuscript is the only recorded copy of this work.
PROVENANCE:
According to Prof. M. Benayahu, who identified the author of this treatise when he saw its microfilm in Jerusalem, the marginal notes in this manuscript are in the hand of Solomon Ayllon (c. 1655-1728).
