Maker's mark of Bailey & Co., Philadelphia, 1859-1878
Lacking cream jug, comprising tea kettle, stand and lamp, teapot, two-handled covered sugar bowl and waste bowl, each compressed spherical, with finely matted finish, on spreading circular base with two foliate bands, the sides repousse and chased with varying Chinese town and harbor scenes, the shaped oval cartouche engraved with initials C.B.F., with overlapping foliate scroll handle, with foliate scroll spout, the partly domed cover chased with flowers, with scalloped rim, topped by Chinaman figure, the kettle on twice chained circular stand on four Herme supports, with openwork cast floral apron between, with plain burner, kettle on stand over monogrammed handle--15in. (38.1cm.) high, gross weight 168oz. (4)
