A VICTORIAN SILVER-PLATED CENTERPIECE ON MIRROR PLATEAU
Maker's mark of Elkington & Co., 1859
The base formed as an oasis on circular naturalistic ground, applied with bearded partly reclining Arab figure in conversation with a bearded figure with spear and sword, with table between set with ewer, bowl on dish and filled platter, also with large jug, with crossed palm trees behind, and with a recumbent camel on the far side (one tree lacking one palm leaf)--18in. (46.9cm.) high; on a circular plateau, with rockwork sides, enhanced with plants, with wood back--15in. (38.1cm.) high (2)
