THREE GEORGE III SILVER SWEETMEAT BASKETS
Maker's mark of: Richard Milnes, London, 1767; Edward Aldridge, 1768; and William Sutton, 1790
The first spreading oval, on four openwork supports, the sides pierced with foliate scrolls, quatrefoils and oval, with flower or foliate at intervals, and divided by beaded wishbones, with beaded rim and openwork swing handle; the second oval, on openwork skirt base, the partly fluted sides then pierced with foliate scrolls and trelliswork, with chased floral rim, openwork swing handle; the last oval, the sides composed of overlapping arcade ropetwist, on solid base, with detachable blue glass liner, with swing handle, average length--6in. (16.5cm.), the silver 12.5oz. (3)
