Serial No. 85566, in sunburst finish, maple body, spruce top with f-holes, mahogany neck, nineteen-fret bound ebony fingerboard with dot inlays, wooden bridge and metal tailpiece; and a black hardshell contour case with green velvet lining and Lee Dickson's handwritten tie-on label Gibson L3 1928 5566 and adhesive paper label similarly inscribed
The Gibson L-3 was introduced in 1902. This guitar has a printed Master Model oval label Style spl L3 Number 85566
This guitar was given to Clapton by a mutual Mississipi Blues fan and he kept it at home for some time.
