Eric Clapton said that he bought a Santa Cruz after seeing a picture of it in an ad. in Guitar Player magazine. He loved the shape and look of it. It is one of the first flat tops he used with a cutaway. Clapton recalled using this guitar in the early '80s for home playing. This guitar was apparently custom built for Eric Clapton to replace another Santa Cruz he had which was damaged in the Bahamas.
