Serial No. 000002, in silver metallic finish, neck plate engraved with serial number and 1954 F 1979 25th Anniversary, maple neck with skunk-stripe routing, twenty-one fret fingerboard with dot inlays, three pickups, three rotary controls, tremolo bridge/tailblock and black pickguard; and a tweed rectangular hardshell case with orange plush lining and Lee Dickson's handwritten tie-on label '79 Silver Anniversary Strat 00002 and adhesive paper label similarly inscribed; case containing a bridge cover plate and tremolo arm
To celebrate the 25th Anniversary of the commercial launch of the Fender Stratocaster in 1954, Fender brought out its first anniversary model in 1979.
Eric Clapton used this guitar on stage in the early 1980s. Lee Dickson recalled that Clapton found it a bit too heavy and that he didn't like the neck profile.
