The letters TG on the neck are the initials of a Fender employee.
This guitar was photographed backstage at Yoyogi Olympic Pool, Tokyo beside a selection of his stage guitars during Clapton's 1985 Japanese Tour - see illustration pp.112-113. It was also photographed backstage at Budokan, Tokyo, December 1979 - see illustration p.128.
This non-trem 1954 sunburst Strat. was constantly used on slide numbers such as Tulsa Time during the period from 1979 to the Behind The Sun Tour of 1985. This Strat was also seen on the 1979 Japan tour during the concert at Budokan, Tokyo, which was recorded and later released as Just One Night. Clapton also played Tulsa Time on this Strat during the ARMS concert at The Royal Albert Hall, 1983 and on Roger Waters' Pros and Cons of Hitch-Hiking Tour in June-July the following year.
The stage-shots illustrated show Eric Clapton playing this guitar on three different occasions:
a) Clapton during the Just One Night Tour, The Odeon, Hammersmith, London, between May 15-17, 1980
