SEAVEY
This small winery in Conn Valley established its reputation with the legendary 1991 Seavey Cabernet Sauvignon, an enormously rich inky wine that has won many a blind tasting of California "cult" wines. The grapes come from several south-facing hillside vineyards owned by the Seaveys. Vinification is in the classic Bordeaux style, though it is interesting to note that the percentage of new oak has declined over time from 75 to 50 Production of the first vintages was 450 cases, and now averages about 900 cases. These are the first retrospective verticals ever offered by the winery, except the magnums, which were offered at the 1998 Napa Valley Wine Auction.
