The extensive panorama with a town beyond in this drawing recalls landscape studies by Titian and Campagnola. The motif of the goat standing on his hindlegs is inspired by Titian's celebrated drawing of a Sleeping Shepherd with his Flock in the Louvre, H.E. Wethey, Titian and his Drawings, Princeton, 1987, no. 45, fig. 82
