The technique and figure types of the present drawing are comparable with those in other securely attributed drawings by Pajou. A signed design for his grandparents' tomb with similar penwork is in the Minneapolis Institute of Art, M. Roland Michel, Le dessin français au XVIIIe siècle, Fribourg, 1987, no. 154, illustrated. The facial type of the angel on the left of the tomb in the Minneapolis drawing is also similar to that of the bound prisoner at the foot of the pedestal in the present drawing. This drawing also recalls a signed drawing of Diomède assailli par les Troyens from his Roman period, in the Louvre, M. Roland Michel, op. cit., no. 162, illustrated. The vigorous and fluid penwork in both the present drawing and the Louvre study is typical of a sculptor's drawing
