The Armenian prince Abou Sahl was a son of Senacherim, the king of Vaspourakan who, in 1022, surrendered his kingdom to the empire in exchange for estates in the region of Sebaste. In 1040 Abou Sahl and his brothers Adom and Constantine incited the discontented veterans of Senacherim who had also been settled in the region, to rebel. The revolt was quickly suppressed by the Byzantines.
