Jean de Villiers (1289-1297) was seriously wounded at the heroic defense of Acre in 1291. He withdrew with a handful of surviving knights to Cyprus. The Order maintained it's base at Rhodes until expelled by the Ottomans in 1522. The brothers eventually became the Knights of Malta.
