Lot Essay

The Church of the Resurrection or Anastasis, was constructed by Marcaire at Jerusalem on his return from the Council of Nicaea. The church was destroyed by the Fatimid Caliph Al-Hakim, and partially restored by the emperor Constantine Monomachus. A few years after the Crusade of 1099 the Greek clergy were once again expelled.
