A large collection of entire letters (133) covering an interesting period of political upheaval including 1520 Hapsburg period from Antonio Medici in Ghent to Antwerp (annotated "Fro r B" - "Paid to Brussels"), Spanish Occupation period (1561-76) - with letters from Antwerp (9) and Bruges (4) addressed to Filippo Corsini in London, showing a wide variety of transit annotations, seals and endorsements; Dutch Period (1576-85) from Antwerp to London (5), again from the Corsini correspondence and four sent via the Jean Hinckart postal service; The Independent Low Countries (1591-1621) from Antwerp to London (2), Florence (2) and Piacenza.
The remainder of the letters (109) are from the period 1621-1706, and addressed to or from, or internally addressed within present day Belgium. Most of the letters bear courier and/or rate markings, annotated throughout by Jack Andrews who carried out much research into this fascinating subject.
