A fine assembly of Transatlantic mail from the 19th. century, with Ship Letters from Bristol, Cove (2, one struck in blue with matching "8" h.s. adjacent), Cowes (two types), Deal (1828 from St. Vincent), Dover, Falmouth (in red), Gravesend (in black and red), Greenock, Liverpool, London (including a red oval type on the 26th July 1845 maiden voyage of the "Great Britain"), Margate (1830 from St. Vincent), Portsmouth, together with numerous other foreign ship letter and transit markings. The study includes many historical notes regarding the ships and line on which they were transported.
The second portion of the collection deals with mail from the East and including India Letters from Deal (2), Dover (in black and red), Liverpool, Plymouth. In addition there are a few Forwarding Agents cachets.
A tremendous group of covers which have been extensively researched. An ideal basis for further specialised expansion. (204)
